St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish                                St. Catherine Church + St. Sylvester Church+ St. William Church                                        5021-A Kawaihau Road  Kapaa, HI 96746                                                        Phone: (808) 822-7900   Fax: (808) 822-3014    Home         A Christmas Message from the desk of the Administrator   Brothers and sisters in Christ   “And dwelt among us.”   These words of the Prologue aptly point to us the real essence of this wonderful season.  Christmas is a meeting of two “loves.”  God offers to humanity His ineffable love.   Humankind accepts this love.  God lovingly embraces our whole humanity by becoming one of us.  And we are sanctified by His Divinity.  It is a holy and happy exchange!   This season, therefore, is a time for all of us to share the warmth of this love to everyone.  But to love genuinely is never easy.  To love truly always involves “kenosis” or self-emptying.  It is always about going beyond oneself.  It is dying to oneself.   God’s kenosis is what we celebrate every Christmas.  He emptied Himself to become one of us to save us.  The All-powerful chose to take the form of a powerless little child.  That is love.
